The Assurance Committee helps member firms by providing advice and information on accounting and assurance matters worldwide. It is responsible for the development, maintenance and monitoring of the DFK quality programme.

The quality control programme is based on international standards issued by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) which is committed to protecting the public interest by developing high-quality international standards, promoting strong ethical values, encouraging quality practice, and supporting the development of all sectors of the profession around the world.

Our objectives are to ensure that all of our member firms perform quality services of the highest professional standards. Although all of our members are independent accounting firms, they are required to fully comply with the international quality standards from IFAC.

We also provide assistance to our members through our private members site where we share technical knowledge between members, provide sample templates and documents to our members, and issue a bi-monthly newsletter to our members on current developments with International accounting and assurance standards.

The members of the committee are all partner, director or other management level professionals within their firm, with highly advanced technical knowledge of (International) accounting and audit standards and principles, theory and concept.

Most of the committee members are also technical director of their respective firms and/or national groups or hold other technical positions.

Special Interest Groups
The committee has set up special interest groups which are driven by one or more committee members and supported by other specialists from other DFK member firms.

The groups assist member firms for the benefit of their services to clients. Any international topic that can be of value for DFK International and their member firms can be a special interest.

At this moment we have set up groups on:
•    IFRS for SMEs
•    ISA-Clarity

As an illustration of the work of Assurance Committee members, Ashutosh Pednekar (M.P. Chitale & Co. Mumbai) was recently interviewed at the ISACA Annual Conference of the Mumbai Chapter. The theme was IT Governance and he had presented a paper on IT Governance in a multi-location infrastructure industry. Read the interview.
