DFK ANZ firms introduce a National People Development Plan

DFK Australia New Zealand (DFK ANZ), the leading accounting association, has introduced a brand new People Development Plan (PDP) which aims to support candidates with their post graduate professional studies (CA, CPA, TIA).

The plan will also offer formal training on the key areas of service like Taxation, Superannuation, Audit and Xero Accreditation and act as an opportunity to work with a large clientele across multiple industries and provide internal training workshops and seminars to continuously improve and provide up to date knowledge.

The first phase of the plan is a two-year cadet programme for undergraduates and postgraduates and will provide mentoring from managers and partners as well as opportunities to work and collaborate with experienced and like-minded professionals not only across Australia and New Zealand but throughout the world.

The plan includes in-built Xero education and training and will offer trainees a strong foundation on the specialist technology, giving them valuable skills for the future.

The programme aims to help DFK ANZ firms attract and retain young talent by building their skills and confidence, and in so doing prepare the firm for the future of Accounting.

DFK Australia New Zealand enables member firms to work together in effective cooperation and the PDP is one of their latest initiatives that will provide several opportunities for both Undergraduates and Postgraduates across their offices.

Radlee Moller, Managing Partner at CIB Accountants - a firm within DFK ANZ said: “For many accounting firms, the number one challenge right now is attracting and retaining talent. This is an opportunity to make a positive change across DFK ANZ and invest in people today so that the firm is better positioned in the future. This is education-based programme is designed to enhance the capabilities and career pathways of our people and will act as an investment in the next generation of accountants.

“For the first time, as a cohort across DFK ANZ, we’re working together to create this programme. Traditional firms start with the tax and audit work, but we know that professional development, emotional intelligence and relationship building are a challenge in the pathway to leadership. So we’re introducing these early on.

“Creating this plan with Xero has really changed the strategic thinking around the development of our people. The team is really excited about it and we can’t wait to see the results of the first year of the programme.”
