DFK Virtual Movember

A virtual Movember didn’t stop DFK International members around the world from getting together to support the global cause to raise awareness of men’s health issues.

A virtual Movember didn’t stop DFK International members around the world from getting together to support the global cause to raise awareness of men’s health issues.

Over 100 members from eight countries took part in the annual moustache growing initiative during November to help start conversations about issues including mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer, and raise vital funds.

Their incredible efforts raised an estimated CAD $30,000, which takes the total raised by DFK during the 11 years of Movember to more than CAD $600,000.

Although the campaign focuses on growing a “mo”, women are also encouraged to participate and many of DFK’s female members became “Mo Sistas” for the month to support the cause.

Paul Panabaker, Senior Partner at Davis Martindale LLP, has led DFK’s involvement in Movember since the initiative was first launched in 2003.

He said: “Despite the challenges of this year restricting face-to-face discussions, video conferencing allowed for a fair amount of competition and encouragement among DFK’s members.

“We were therefore delighted to raise as much as we did last year and thanks to the continued support of our members, we have helped to fund more than 1,250 projects in 20 countries worldwide.

“Movember is all about moustaches sparking conversations about serious issues in a light-hearted way to raise awareness and, of course, funds.  I’m looking forward to more of those taking place in person next year!”
