DFK International’s commitment to the next generation is being strengthened with the EMEA region bringing its conferences for present and future leaders together for the first time.

DFK EMEA is holding its annual conference and young professionals conference for 2020 at the same time to promote integration and interaction among members of all levels.

The conference will be held in Madrid from Thursday, February 6 to Saturday, February 8.

Anne Brady, vice-president of DFK EMEA, said: “We are delighted to be combining our annual conference and young professionals conference for the first time and hope that it will encourage greater attendance and engagement.

“The young professionals are the future of DFK and this is a great opportunity for them to get to know partners from other member firms and benefit from that extended networking.

“Some of our young professionals have gone on to become partners and directors and we hope that this new initiative will enhance the support we offer with career development.”

The main focus of the conference will look at the importance of representing a firm and how behaviours can impact on performance, particularly around business development with existing and prospective clients.

The expert session led by William Johnson, from The Openside Group, will also address the key role that storytelling can play in business development, and share the power of being able to tell a firm’s story effectively.

Anne said: “One of the biggest issues for DFK worldwide is staff recruitment which was our focus for last year and now we want to look at the issue of referrals which is the main purpose of our association.

“Our behaviour and approach can be critical in terms of business development and client referrals, and we hope this session will be of great value to partners as well as those coming through the ranks.”

The move to incorporate young professionals follows on from DFK UK & Ireland combining its conferences for the first time in September 2019.

DFK EMEA and DFK UK & Ireland have also agreed to run their young professionals conferences in tandem with a unified training programme by Una McSorley, from MARCOMM Training.

The second module on effective communication skills will be delivered over two days of the DFK EMEA conference.

The conference programme will include a tax seminar, with presentations from delegates from Spain and Portugal, an IT workshop, and a DFK International update from executive director Martin Sharp.

A walking tour, photographic competition and visit to a farm renowned for training horses will be among the social activities.

The deadline for registration is January 10 and for more information, contact Caroline Cassidy, executive officer for DFK UK & Ireland, at exec@dfkuki.com
