More than 100 delegates from across the world have enjoyed re-connecting at an annual conference which was held in-person for the first time in two years.

The DFK EMEA Annual and Young Professionals Conference, held at the Midland Hotel in Manchester, welcomed delegates from countries including Tunisia, Portugal, Austria, Serbia, Italy, Germany, Mauritius, India, Saudi Arabia, Netherlands, Switzerland, Spain, Sweden, Cyprus, France, the USA, Canada, Ireland and the UK.

One of the main themes of the event was managing a changing world, with speakers Carl Reader and Trish Pashazadeh-Allen from Positive Group focusing on topics including navigating the new world, making an impact, and leadership skills.

Award-winning communications and training consultant Una McSorley, of communications consultancy Marcomm, who delivered training to the young professionals also joined the annual conference to give a presentation on how to prepare a presentation in 20 minutes and make an impact.

The conference was attended by DFK International President Harriet Greenberg, Executive Director of DFK International Martin Sharp, EMEA Vice President Marco Vermin and the majority of the DFK EMEA committee.

Martin briefed the delegates on the situation of all the DFK friends in Ukraine and held a minute of silence to remember those that had lost their lives in conflicts around the world and in the Covid pandemic.

Delegates also enjoyed re-connecting through social activities including a dinner at the Manchester Art Gallery, a DFK quiz and some were even able to attend a Premier League football match courtesy of Saudi Arabia member firm EDRAK GLOBAL Chartered Accountants & Auditors (EDsacad).

Caroline Cassidy, EMEA Executive Officer and Conference Manager, said: “The conference was a huge success, with over 100 delegates in attendance.

“We were lucky enough to welcome delegates from Vienna where the conference was originally due to be held which was incredibly special.

“It was clear that everyone thoroughly enjoyed being back together and catching up with friends after not seeing each other for so long - it was a really nice occasion.

“We had some brilliant speakers, including Una McSorley who was able to step in at the last minute and give a really interesting presentation relevant to the themes of the event, and also heard from Martin about our friends in Ukraine and how DFK is supporting them.

“All of the social events went down incredibly well, particularly the football game which was a real highlight for those who were able to attend.

“I would also like to pay tribute to Marco who did a fantastic job of hosting his region during his first conference as EMEA Vice President.”

Marco added: “It was a pleasure to welcome so many delegates from DFK member firms across the world to our annual DFK EMEA Annual and Young Professionals Conference.

“It was a wonderful way to re-connect and do business with friends after spending such a long time apart due to the pandemic.”
