DFK International Emerging Leaders Conference comes to the Asia Pacific region for the first time

A DFK conference dedicated to nurturing the accountancy industry’s next generation of leaders is being held for the first time in the organisation’s Asia Pacific region.

The DFK Emerging Leaders Conference is being held in Phuket, Thailand on November 22 and November 23 preceding DFK’s three-day Asia Pacific Annual Conference, which runs until November 25.

A range of professionals at senior level from the USA, Australia and across Asia are set to attend DFK’s Emerging Leaders Conference where they will be given guidance on how to maximise exchanging knowledge and striking business deals.

This will include networking with each other whilst learning about social and cultural differences, before being given the opportunity to rub shoulders with around 50 Partners for the last three days of the Asia Pacific Annual Conference.

DFK’s Emerging Leaders Conference is being facilitated by Stephen Bushell, Managing Partner at DFK Gooding Partners, and Wendy Jeffery-Lonnie, HR Director at DFK Gooding Partners.

Stephen said: “Some of today’s DFK Partners and Directors have used previous Emerging Leaders Conferences to assist them as a stepping stone to where they are today, underlining its value, which is why we are really excited to be bringing this event to Asia for the first time.

“This isn’t a typical ‘lecture and technical’ conference, but an opportunity for junior and emerging Partners to push themselves outside of their comfort zone by honing their people skills.

“First impressions can count when it comes to building relationships, which is why it’s important to know why greeting people from China or India, for example, may have a different approach to greeting someone from Australia or the US.

“These people skills are crucial as they help to build relationships that will ultimately lead to exchanging knowledge and ideas, whilst also being able to secure mutually beneficial business – which are key ingredients for any Partner.

“It has been three years since the last DFK Asia Pacific Annual Conference due to the pandemic, so we are expecting it to be an energic week, and the addition of the Emerging Leaders Conference will inject some fresh impetus to this year’s gathering.”

One of DFK International’s newest members, leading US-based accountancy firm Marcum, is also sending its international tax Partner, Adnan Islam, to both conferences and will pass on advice to emerging leaders.

Wendy added: “We are very excited to have Adnan’s experience and expertise on our team.

“This is a must-attend event for any Senior Managers and young or aspiring Partners wanting to get ahead and fulfil their potential, which is why we are urging these groups at our DFK member firms to sign up for this conference.

“The emerging leaders conference also provides a fantastic platform for these young future leaders to form their own long-term peer groups across the Asia Pacific region, ranging from Australia to China and India to Thailand.”
