Member firms are being urged to hold events around International Women’s Day in March to raise money for DFK International’s chosen charity for 2020.

Fundraisers will be helping to support Comparte por una Vida, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) established in Colombia to alleviate malnutrition among children migrating from the bordering country of Venezuela.

The number of migrants rocketed by over 400 per cent during 2018 and rose from 769,762 that year to 1.5 million in 2019, with children being the most vulnerable among the migrating population.

It is the second year that DFK International has supported a charitable organisation located in the region where its annual conference is held and last year around £7,000 (US $8,500) was raised for HerStory Foundation in Bangladesh.

The fundraising is run through DFK’s International Women in Leadership (DFK I-WIL) Executive Committee and Comparte por una Vida has been chosen as DFK will be holding its International, and North and Latin America, Conference in Panama this year.

Anne Brady, chair of the DFK I-WIL Executive Committee, said: “The whole idea behind this initiative was that we wanted to do something on a global scale whereby all of our member firms had the opportunity to get involved and raise money for a women’s charity.

“We had tremendous support in our first year and are hoping that as many firms as possible will get involved as even if individually they are only able to raise a small amount of money, together we can raise a huge amount which will make a real difference.”

Money raised by DFK will support Comparte por una Vida’s nutritional recovery programme, called ‘Stay In School’ which promotes protective and safe environments where children can access free education while recovering from malnutrition.

This year’s International Women’s Day will take place on Sunday, March 8.  For more information about how member firms can support the initiative, contact exec@dfk.com
